Safety Pins... the History
Because safety pins, or objects designed for the same purpose, have been around for 20, 000 years. Seriously.
In prehistoric times, we used a simple pin, usually a thorn, or a fragment of bone as a fastener.
The Ancient Egyptians didn't use the safety pin or the button, but they did use long, straight pins fashioned from metal.
" Bronze pins 8 inches long have been found in Egyptian tombs, many with decorated gold heads. " Big Site Of Amazing Facts - http://www.bigsiteofamazingfacts.com/history-of-safety-pins
Each and every period of classical Greece and Rome came up with it's own form of safety pin and clasp. Would you believe it that the differences in design of the safety pin between each period is so distinct that safety pins found in an archeological dig can be used to date the whole find? In some periods the heads of the safety pins were commonly shaped as serpents, horses or lutes, whereas in other periods they took the shape of more abstract designs.
In Medieval Europe Pins for the wealthy were elaborately fashioned from Ivory, Brass, Silver and Gold, but the poor had to make do with wooden skewers.
During emergence of Punk rock in the late seventies, safety pins became associated with the genre, its followers and fashion. Some claim the look was taken originally from Richard Hell whom the British punks saw in pictures, and whose style they adopted.[4] This is disputed by a number of artists from the first wave of British punks, most notably Johnny Rotten, who insists that safety pins were originally incorporated for more practical reasons, for example, to remedy "the arse of your pants falling out".Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_pins
So as you can see, safety pins have taken a long journey through the times, and the world, and now we come to the present. Safety pins are practical, random and fun (try to work THAT one out) so thanks for reading.

Why Research?
"If we knew what we were doing it wouldn't be research" - Albert Einstein
He has a point. If we knew all the answers, what would we be doing trying to find them out? Research the practice of discovering, and knowledge, and if we already had that knowledge, then what would the point of trying to find it?
We are always learning, every day of our lives. If we didn't learn, we would keep on making the same mistakes ovre and ovre and ovre and ovre and ovre and ovre......
Why do we research???
To find answers? We may find the answers, but do we know our question? We research to find proof, evidence to back up what we know. Like Einstein, finding proof to put behind his theory of relativity, we all need to back up what we say. From saying to your friend that there is a sale on at the mall, to posing a theory to a conference room full of scientists, proof is crucial.
What is research???
Research is human beings trying to gain and improve their knowledge. Research is finding proof, a way to back up your answers. Research is vital. What if Newton had not discovered gravity by not sitting under that particular apple tree on that particular day? Our whole world would be completely different! What if no one had ever had the idea of the internet? Our whole way of communicating would be stuck in 1895. I wouldn't be writing about this to you. So as you can see, we should appreciate research for what it has given us.
